Margaret mahy

On May 20th Tumu hub went to the Margeret Mahy playground. My team's first activity was the waka. They taught us how to paddle. But the paddles became tiring but it still was fun.

Then my team went to Victoria Square. It was probably the best one because it had beautiful nature, plants and māori culture. At Victoria square had 2 statues, James cook and Queen Victoria.

Then my team went to the Margaret mahy Playground and there were drawings on the floor. Then we had to trace them with paper and crayons. How we traced them was quite interesting because we had to put the paper on the drawing. Then colour on the paper. It was really fun because the drawings are really cool looking. I traced three drawings

Last but not least me and my team fed the tuna (eels) when we all finished feeding the tuna. Then we had  to find mats on the ground which had 3 layers that's making it stay on the ground there’s also 13 mats and the mats also had meaning about it but i don't know what it means

My favourite part of the trip was Victoria square because it had beautiful plants and statues  `

Something I learnt was that māori people used to catch fishes in the Avon river and that the mats has a meaning to it but i don't know

The thing I found the most interesting was the waka because the Maori people used to go catch fish there and trade it in Victoria square

This trip has helped me with my PBL because It helped me learn lots about the māori culture
